Welcome to Paaruwa Nature Resort
Situated in a village isolated from urban livelihood on the bank of the picturesque Bolgoda Lake.
Paaruwa derives its name from its location: in the by gone era, this location was a ‘Paaruwa Thotupola’, a Ferry Yard. It was known that goods were transported though water channels by Paaruwa or rather Paruwa, which is the Sinhala word for the vessel used by ancestors for water transportation of goods.

We went to the Paaruwa Nature Resort for lunch with family and friends and treated ourselves to delicious food, excellent service and captivating scenery. It was the ideal day out for us. We found out that this unique location was one of the better known ‘Thotu Polas’ (water transport hubs) back in the day when ‘Paaruwas’ (rafts) were used to transport fresh produce and goods down the river. Hence the name.
We will definitely be back to absorb the beauty of this retreat and relax in the infinity pool!

My wife and I booked Paaruwa for three nights in October, but stayed for eighteen, as the location in convenient for us as we have family nearby. There are just two rooms, large , clean and well appointed. The pool is superb, always keep clean, and set between the rooms and the lakeside, which must be over one hundred metres across. The breakfasts were excellent, and there is a good choice of food and fresh juices, the 'nasi goreng' and 'bami goreng' were favourites, and the chef was always happy to make items that were not on the menu for us if he could.
Thanks Paaruwa for a wonderful stay, we will undoubtedly return.
